At STEP-G we focus on manufacturing aluminium billets, extruded structural components and assemblies plus recycling. Our company is a strategically important part of Sankyo Tateyama Inc. with some 11,000 employees. The group is represented around the world. STEP-G is a major player globally in the extrusion and manufacturing of innovative aluminium solutions. With eight locations, 11 extrusion lines and our own foundry as well as sales locations in Europe we are close to our customers. We combine an innovative, customer-centred approach with top expertise in extrusion, metallurgy and further processing over the entire value creation chain and life cycle of aluminium.
Our location in Bitterfeld in the east of Germany manufactures standard products and highly complex extruded profiles. Working in– drawing on the experience gained since 1915. In close cooperation with our customers, we support them from consulting to manufacturing and further processing for customised product solutions. Our plant in Bonn in the Rhineland specialises in large profile extrusion for customers all over the world. The location has a unique standing due to its decades of experience in this area as well as in further processing profiles up to lengths of 30 metres. Our STEP-G location in Bonn has been active since 1921 and operates Europe’s largest extrusion press. This enables it to cover almost all customer requirements for highly complex large profiles and their processing.
Our Belgian STEP-G location near Brussels and Antwerp is one of the oldest in the STEP-G group. Since 1946, the Duffel location has specialised in aviation and aerospace applications and made a name for itself with its extensive know-how in the field. In its specific market, Duffel is a premium producer of hard alloys.
Our STEP-G foundry in east Germany started operations in 1938. The smelting plant was partly modernised in 2015. A core area of expertise in the foundry are custom-made special alloys alongside standard aluminium alloys. We always also take account of recycling in the resource cycle from scrap to billets for the production of secondary aluminium.
For our BUG Aluminium-Systeme brand, Hettstedt is a vital hub for our aluminium windowsill and flat roof systems. This newly built logistics distribution centre and our own further processing plants for aluminium extruded profiles guarantee high-quality, fast order completion. Our understanding of customer requirements, technical expertise and over seven decades of experience in the construction industry with our own BUG Aluminium-Systeme brand ensure top quality and functionality.
Our Hettstedt centre at a glance
One of STEP-G’s newest extrusion plants was completed in 2000 in Tianjin, a major port city in the north east of China. The strategically favourable location in one of China’s largest foreign trading ports enables a smooth supply to our customers. Another big advantage of our Tianjin plant is that it applies manufacturing processes with the same standards as our European production facilities. Due to intensive interactions and knowledge transfer between our experts, we can guarantee a uniform manufacturing standard to all our customers, irrespective of location.
Another major component of the sales organisation for the BUG Aluminium-Systeme brand is our location in Traun, Austria. It has been in operation since 1985 and supplies customers in the construction industry with innovative aluminium profiles and sustainable system solutions. Our Austrian sales branch with its production and office building and adjacent warehouse specialises in our windowsill systems and accessories.
The STEP-G plant in Vogt in south Germany lies near the Swiss and Austrian borders. It is STEP-G’s primary centre for orders from automobile manufacturers. Since 1952, the location has built up its expertise in building construction with its brand BUG Aluminium-Systeme and later in automotive applications to become an established supplier not only in Germany, but throughout Europe. Our plant in Vogt is a preferred supplier of Europe’s largest automobile manufacturers and suppliers.
