In 1915 in Bitterfeld, Germany, the foundations were laid for STEP-G, currently owned Japanese company Sankyo Tateyama Inc. This was when the first German plant was opened in Bitterfeld. It was followed in 1921 by the German plant in Bonn, then in 1946 by the plant in Duffel, Belgium and in 1952 by another German plant in Vogt. In 2000, we commissioned our Chinese plant in Tianjin. In 2006, Aleris International Inc. acquired the plants of Corus Aluminium. On 1 March 2015, the Aleris aluminium extrusion operations transferred to the Japanese company Sankyo Tateyama, Inc., a construction materials and extruded products manufacturer.
In 2019, STEP-G expanded its business operations through acquisitions. Specifically, we took over the foundry business of Aluwerk Hettstedt GmbH, a producer of cast billets and extruded profiles, and the processing operations of RMG Metallfachhandel GmbH. This process added a new location in Hettstedt. Here you can find an overview of our locations.
